Senior Trina Morrow Wins LHS’ 2021 Poetry Out Loud

Senior Trina Morrow is Longmeadow High School’s 2021 Poetry Out Loud champion with her recitation of “Perhaps the World Ends Here” by Joy Harjo. She will advance to the regional semifinals next month with a chance to qualify for the state championship in Boston.

This is the 5th year that LHS has participated in this national recitation contest 

A panel of judges from the English Department, Mr. Staples, Ms. Moore, Mr. Williams, Ms. Heston, and librarian, Ms. Kennedy, viewed student recitations that were submitted on video last week. Other participants and the poems that they recited included Jonah Barresi (“Future Memories” by Mario Melendez), Celeste Connell (“A Farmer Remembers Lincoln” by Twitter Bynner), Thomas Coulouras (“Immortal Sails” by Alfred Noyes), Tanya Dang (“Snowflake” by William Baer), Edgar Gephardt (“The Moonlight” by Noah Buchholz), Ana Hutchinson (“Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost), and Loulla Rousou (“Dreamers” by Siegfried Sassoon).
